Hi MBBP Subscriber,

The Manufacturing Simulation Game

Simulation exercises to help your team understand:

  • Why and how  MRP/ERP create "high-cost" shop floor chaos

  • How to eliminate shop floor chaos and "end-of-the-month" stress

  • The importance of demand flow® technology

  • The power of sequential production and point-of-use logistics

  • How to move from "firefighting" to proactive problem solving

  • How to successfully implement lean manufacturing

It's time to wake up to reality and this intensive, action learning exercise is providing the wake up call. Sequential production and point-of-use logistics boosts manufacturing performance. Its methodology has proven to help manufacturing companies decrease cycle times, improve on-time deliveries, decrease operating costs and improve customer satisfaction. Companies that understand and implement the concepts demonstrated in "ShowTime!" consistently outperform their competitor. Lean manufacturing simulation exercises provide an effective methodology for identifying and achieving a company's full growth and profit potential. Below are some of the program highlights:

  • Detailed instructions that describe how each exercise is set up and carried out. Also instructions on what non-participants should be watching and recording for the "after game forum."

  • Hands-on participation by teams that will setup  MRP and lean  manufacturing factory simulations for comparing the effectiveness of two distinct manufacturing methodologies:

Game Process Synopsis

  • Active participation for 6 to 8 people with sideline observation note taking by up to 20 observers.

  • Team builds 20 Lego Towers of two configurations from 300 pieces... 6 subassemblies.

  • MRP (Push) simulation includes stockroom shop order picking and subassembly production. Time to complete: 15-45 minutes depending on team skill level.

  • Lean manufacturing, simulation sets up a "one- piece" flow production line using JIT and kanbans. Time to complete: 5-10 minutes depending on team skill level.

  • The MRP/ERP Manufacturing Simulation Game will clearly demonstrate the complexity of shop floor control under a standard MRP/ERP (Push) manufacturing system. The opening of shop orders, picking of parts, building of assemblies and the final product production process are carried out in real-time.

  • The Lean Manufacturing Simulation Game is a demonstration of how sequential production and point-of-use logistics can turn a marginally successful product lines into a huge winners.

  • Cycle Time Management is demonstrated and recorded, pros and cons of each methodology recorded and post exercise forum drive home the lean manufacturing paradigm.
