Competitive Knowledge for Manufacturing People
=================================================
Like Vince Lombardi, who focused his championship
teams on the mastering of football basics, we need
to focus our teams on the mastering of business
basics.
When it comes to improving systems performance,
"Information Integrity" is a most important business
basic. I call it Infotegrity - the ability to
communicate data and documentation completely,
accurately and in a timely manner.
If your company is having trouble with data collection
accuracy and/or the quality of documentation, you'll
want to be sure to read this week's bulletin,
“INFORMATION INTEGRITY, A requisite to achieving good
systems results.”
Have a nice day, keep the faith, and stay connected.

INFORMATION INTEGRITY
A requisite to achieving good systems results.
It is not uncommon for front office management to
become disenchanted with MRP/ERP system results when
time schedules and promised paybacks are not achieved.
When will we learn that bottom line expectations will
never be achieved when inaccurate, untimely and
uncontrolled data and/or documentation drive day-to-
day production and manufacturing/material control
systems?
If your company is typical, converting the monthly
financial forecast into reality requires overtime,
costly expediting, expensive "on-the-run" product
changes and, at times, even a little "smoke and
mirrors".
With all the available sophisticated computerized
systems, why is it so?
The answer lies in what's missing and has nothing to
do with the quality of the system designs. What's
missing? It's a focus on the execution of business
basics.
Like Vince Lombardi, who focused his championship
teams on the mastering of football basics - we need
to focus our teams on the mastering of business basics.
When it comes to improving systems performance,
"Information Integrity" is a most important business
basic. I call it Infotegrity - the ability to
communicate data and documentation completely,
accurately and in a timely manner. Like blocking and
tackling in football, it's not glamorous and few want
to do it - but without tenacious and effective
execution and its continuous improvement, manufacturing
performance and bottom line results will never meet
expectations.
To maintain ones competitive edge into the future,
management's focus must be shifted from systems
sophistication to systems Infotegrity. In short,
its time to put the "horse before the cart".
Information Integrity is no panacea, however,
I'm convinced that a company with unsophisticated
lean systems and a high level of Infotegrity will
outperform a company that has sophisticated systems
and low Infotegrity. What about those company that
have both? I buy their stock!
